Ways of contributing to the discussion

The simplest way is to use the Discussion menu item in QuickLinks to the right (or just click the link). This will take you to a page where you can submit news, queries, ideas and examples. Or you can read those of others, and make comments on these. Each page in the wiki has a 'Comments' link at the bottom of the page.

Similarly, if you have examples of existing web sites or pages that might be worth discussing (even if they are from another discipline), you can select the Examples menu item in QuickLinks. On the first page is a list of existing examples. You can add your example by filling in the form, or you can look at existing examples and comment, edit the example's description, add discussion.

This is a wiki, so do not be shy about improving any item, correcting spelling, removing spam etc. Don't worry about messing things up. At the top of each page is a 'View" menu. Under this is an item called 'History'. If you select this, you can view older versions and back-up one or more versions. All versions of all pages are available going back to their initial creation. Backing up a version is often the best way to repair a page after it has been spammed or vandalised. Please fix instances of these yourself if you can.

If you want practice, try the Sandbox item under QuickLinks. This is a practice area where you can do no harm.

Create link to a new page ...

If you want to add a link to an existing page, or create a page and put a link to it in another page, try the following. It may be helpful to consult the 'User Guide' link under QuickLinks, which has a number of demonstration videos.

Locate the page you want to add a link to, and edit if (assuming you have editing rights for the page.) To edit click on the 'Edit' menu item (or the pencil icon). The screen will open to the wiki source of the page.

If you are using Firefox or Explorer you can select WYSIWYG from the right memu. Do not use this if using any other browser!

To make a new link using the wiki format, simply surround the label text with brackets:

[My new link]

or whatever you want to call the link

Click the Save & View button at the end of the page, and the page should now include your new link.

Click on the link to create the new page.
